As it stands right now, Jason Campbell will be the starter at quarterback when the Raiders face the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday — but don’t bother asking him about it. Reporters asked the would-be quarterback that question when the Raiders brought him to the podium this morning, but with little information given up.
Jason Campbell was practically run out of Washington when the Redskins beat out the Raiders for the services of Donovan McNabb. Being traded to a perennial cellar-dweller usually isn’t ideal for a starting quarterback — especially if that cellar-dweller has trouble protecting their signal caller.

Tuesday, the Raiders cut defensive tackle Jay Alford in order to pick up linebacker Bruce Davis. While doing so, they were able to strengthen their injured linebacking corps, but the net effect is that they now only have three defensive tackles — two of which have already struggled through injuries during the young season.
Oakland Raiders Pro Bowl cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha, was asked to point to one or two things as reasons that he and his teammates were a quarter of the way through the season with a 1-3 record and struggling to get over the proverbial ‘hump’. What Asomugha answered was interesting considering that former San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer had mentioned it on Sirius Radio on Monday.
Despite what Norv Turner says about coaching against the Oakland Raiders, it’s hard to believe that he doesn’t circle the date on his calender as soon as he gets his schedule. Yet, if you ask the current San Diego Chargers coach about it, you’ll only hear about how good this Raiders team is.
Longtime Raiders fans might recall a Bruce Davis from the 80’s who wore the silver and black. That Bruce Davis played offensive tackle for 11 years from 1979 to 1989, after being drafted in the 11th round (294th overall) from UCLA by Oakland.
Sam Williams was very blunt about his feelings for the San Diego Chargers, the Raiders upcoming opponent this Sunday. In fact, Williams said that he’s not the only one in the Raiders locker room with these feelings. “We don’t like the Chargers at all,” said Williams of the divisional foe. “We don’t like anything about them.”
Houston Texans’ (3-1) running backs Arian Foster, Derrick Ward, and Steve Slaton combined to rush 33 times for 248 yards and Matt Schaub used three different tight ends to complete 10 of his 16 completions in 29 attempts to help defeat the Oakland Raiders (1-3) 31-24 Sunday at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in front of the lowest non-strike year attendance for a Raiders home game in 43 years. “I thought the…
The last time the Raiders played the Houston Texans, (October 4, 2009) it was NFL Breast Cancer Awareness week — except that game was back in Houston. The Raiders again face the Texans wearing pink cleats, but hope that they can fare better than they did last year when they lost 29-6. I will be updating this section throughout the game, but for play-by-play, you’ll have to go elsewhere. After…
