Tom Cable met with the media Thursday after practice. He talked about his new starting quarterback, his special teams, a new edition to the practice squad, and some of his next opponent this Sunday.

Those were the first words out of Tom Cable’s mouth when he addressed the media Sunday afternoon, and although there’s no doubt he was being honest, it’s a good bet that those words were severely understated. The Raiders, underdogs to most objective prognosticators, looked more like the Art Shell team of 2006 and nothing like the team that some have pegged to win the AFC West this year.
The Raiders practiced in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees today in front of members of the Raider Nation. The fans filled the sidelines to watch the team go through a pretty standard workout in shorts and without pads. Other than the intense heat on the field, there wasn’t anything too unusual about the day’s events.
